"For MJS France, Animo and MJS Belgium, the reached compromise is rather a step away from social dumping and dismantling of social standards than a step towards a social Europe. The directive appears to be less damaging as expected but still doesnt give reason for satisfaction. Services of economic general interest are still threatened of competition because they are in the scope of the directive. Higher education, child and elderly care are only some of many sectors that are at risk. Moreover, the happy evacuation of the country of origin principle will inevitably create conflicts that the European Court of Justice will have to solve. This means that the legislator leaves Justice to set rules."
And the ECOSY position has to be clarified on this subject. As Simone Burger (VP ECOSY, JUSOS) says : "So in our point of view not everything is going fine, we do not believe having after the first reading a progressive directive. There is still a lot to change, to get a social service directive. So we will go on fighting."
