The UN has the very strange idea to organize the World Summit on the information society. In a country without any freedom of press, this situation is amazing and shoking. The dictatorship of Ben Ali continue to repress the journalists. This week-end, one journalist of Libération was badly beaten without any reaction of the police. If the goal of giving this summit to Tunisia was to push for improvements of Human Rights, it is missed. For the moment, the French minister of Foreign affair just call for "all the truth on this event". Until when the international community will accept this situation? Reporters Without Borders added : “The repressive climate prevailing in Tunis offers no guarantee for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) that is due to take place there next week, and if the United Nations wants to avoid any mishap, it should just relocate the summit anywhere but in Tunisia.”More info on the blog of Nicolas Marandon (in French), MJS National secretary on Justice.
